Cadillac needs an Alpha-based crossover in the vein of the GLA and X4. Maybe something similar in design to the Granite concept that was meant for GMC. Even better if it comes with that sweet 2.0T.

I think Cadillac is good where they are. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the size of the Granite but they already have Encore and the Trax adding another similar model in there brings its dangerously close to self cannibalization.

Those are Cruze based. The Granite was just an example. My idea is for a model that is a lot more dynamic and based on the ATS.

A year ago, I would've called you crazy. But the Encore has been selling so well, that you might be right.

Well, fuck: I actually kind of like it. But not as a crossover—that design looks like a city car-class hatch, like the Up!, to me.

Premium city cars are getting more and more popular every day. That includes small-footprint CUVs.

But why pick this over an encore? I like the idea, but not many would really value the driving dynamics of a small cadillac crossover.
I want to see an SRX update.

What makes you say that? There's X6s, Macans, and GLAs all over Nova. There's definitely a space for a sportier, upscale GM CUV in the portfolio.

It makes sense. There are plenty of high income people, who live in dense city centers.

The Encore starts at $24k, let's assume that the cadillac would start at $32k. You could get a fully loaded encore for less ($30.9k) than the price of a base model cadillac CUV. I recently took an ATS on a short drive, and I loved it so I can imagine that this would be a nimble CUV.
The thing with the X4 and the Macan is that sadly people expect them to handle better than the competition, just because they come from BMW and Porsche.
I feel like this would be similar to the Buck regal GS, which was a good car, but just was completely overlooked. It was especially bad considering that the GS was $37k, too close to A4/335i/C350 territory.
I would love to see a GTI fighter from Cadillac.

Honestly I think they need this more, I don't think Cadillac should make a smaller car because they need to maintain their image, they have worked to hard to mess it up now. A small cheaper car seems like a bad idea. They should leave that to the other brands.

That wasn't my point, I think a crossover in general isn't a great idea for Cadillac because their image is based on performance, and crossovers aren't optimized for that. It would probably sell well because crossovers are very popular right now. But I think this
and this
would be a mistake. You end up with a car that's not great at anything in particular and I think it is hard to nail the styling on it. They just seem wrong proportionally to me. Its like a hatch or car that has been stretched vertically only at the belt line. Plus you can never optimize it for anything. It's too tall to be good on the track, a car underneath so it won't be good off road, to small on the interior to be good at moving lots of stuff and their are other vehicles that could do the job better. If they wan't another crossover they should update the srx or just make cars and escalades.

Caddy did that. It was called the Cimarron. It blew.
